Quincy, Moonlight and Burning Man Prep...
Last Friday I drove up to Quincy with my mom...its about a 3 mile drive into the high Sierra from Grass Valley. We were doing some scouting on a possible new home for her...with Nevada County's rapid growth my mom is looking for somewhere quieter to settle for her and her horses. Quincy is tucked away in between the eastern Sierra Nevada and the high Sierra valley, and the landscape is quite stunning. (Actually it constantly reminded me of covered wagons and pioneers heading west...) We ate dinner at the local organic foods only cafe/bar. For 5000 poeple there seems to be lots of diversity and sizable community of progressive thinkers...theres a local food organic foods coop...thats always a good sign. So if all the right chips fall in the rights places, this could become her new home. I myself on the other hand will stay in Grass Valley where work is close by...but all the while i am dreaming of far off lands...gotta make that money then fly...
Saturday evening was river night...and at the parking lot I ran into John Jones...a good friend from all the way down in Petaluma who just happened to be up camping for the evening. With a group of 10 strong, plenty of beer and food, and a gigantic ghetto blaster we partied merrily in the moonlight. At some point John and I rambled up the river rocks for a dip in the deep waters below China Dam...a premier Yuba swimming hole and nothing by magical under the full moon. Our energy was soaring and we spent hours nestled into the rocks above the pools having a much needed life, the universe and everything talk, which by the way is far from 42.
Sunday was Garage Sale day...Burning Man approacheth...and it was time to find some toys and costumes. By the end of our tour i was squished in the back between the car seat and a desk, sitting on doll heads, bandanas and go big blue beanies. Luckily I scored a couple big pads to make things more comfortable. I love the free box...
OK guess ill get to work now...few more days of that left still before a week of desert festivities
